UrbanWorks 25th Anniversary

UrbanWorks25

UrbanWorks, a wonderful client of ours, is a socially and environmentally conscious architecture firm in Chicago. Not too long ago we were helping them celebrate their 20th anniversary, so we are proud and thrilled to be involved with a special logo and promotional materials for their 25th year. Looking forward to 30!

Spa Life

Spa Life

We are inundated with info about data gathering from social media, but never believe it will affect us. However, we do work in a number of industries (healthcare, construction, beauty) that seem to have shared our contact info with publishers (somehow).

So we get free magazines for display in our hair salon (don’t have a hair salon), magazines about how to reclaim construction debris (don’t do construction) and recently, magazines about gene therapy (no). So I guess I am not surprised that we showed up on Groupon with a little write-up from one of their savvy editors about our facial, massage and haircut services.

The only thing harder than bringing that glow back to your skin is getting removed from the Groupon listing. So please visit for a lovely spa experience or a little DNA analysis.

Art + Life with Steve Liska

VoyageChicago reached out to us recently to chat with Steve.

VC: Steve, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.

SL: Started as an illustrator, did freelance work for a number of iconic graphic designers and decided that is what I wanted to do for the rest of my career. Learned by doing- with the help of a number of great friends in the industry. Currently designing for a number of long term clients. In Chicago- we designed a number of things I see daily- Northwestern Medicine’s identity, Hubbard Street Dance, the Goodman Theater.

VC: Can you give our readers some background on your art?

SL: Being a graphic designer is different from a fine artist. Our goal is always to solve a problem- whether it is corporate, retail, healthcare, etc.- we try to find the essence and help communicate it. Words and images is our usual palette. We also get to partner with great writers, photographers, illustrators and others that turn complex messages into clear communication. Simple and clear is always the most difficult challenge, particularly across the wide variety of mediums we design for.
